13 Australian Apprenticeships Centres<br />

Australian Apprenticeships Centres (AACs) are funded by the Australian Government <strong>to</strong> provide <strong>in</strong>formation <strong>and</strong><br />

support services <strong>to</strong> employers, apprentices <strong>and</strong> tra<strong>in</strong>ees. A complete list of Australian Apprenticeships Centres <strong>in</strong> <strong>NSW</strong><br />

can be found at www.australian<strong>apprenticeships</strong>.gov.au or phone the Australian Apprenticeships Referral L<strong>in</strong>e on 13 38<br />

All employers wish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> employ an apprentice or tra<strong>in</strong>ee must nom<strong>in</strong>ate an Australian Apprenticeships Centre <strong>to</strong><br />

act on their behalf <strong>in</strong> representations <strong>to</strong> the State <strong>and</strong> Australian Governments. Australian Apprenticeships Centre<br />

services <strong>to</strong> employers are free of charge.<br />

Australian Apprenticeships Centres:<br />

• help employers <strong>and</strong> apprentices/ tra<strong>in</strong>ees complete a tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g contract <strong>and</strong> lodge it on their behalf with State<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Services<br />

• assist employers <strong>and</strong> apprentices/tra<strong>in</strong>ees <strong>to</strong> apply for Australian <strong>and</strong> State Government f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong>centives,<br />

subsidies <strong>and</strong> other f<strong>in</strong>ancial assistance, <strong>and</strong> provide advice on eligibility<br />

• advise employers <strong>and</strong> apprentices/ tra<strong>in</strong>ees about their rights, responsibilities <strong>and</strong> the adm<strong>in</strong>istrative<br />

requirements of enter<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><strong>to</strong> a tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g contract<br />

• provide advice on the range of <strong>apprenticeships</strong>/<strong>tra<strong>in</strong>eeships</strong> available <strong>and</strong> the qualifications apprentices <strong>and</strong><br />

tra<strong>in</strong>ees will ga<strong>in</strong> on successful completion of their tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

• assist the employer <strong>and</strong> the apprentice/tra<strong>in</strong>ee <strong>in</strong> the selection of a suitable registered tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g organisation <strong>to</strong><br />

deliver formal tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g on <strong>and</strong>/or off the job<br />

• provide an ongo<strong>in</strong>g moni<strong>to</strong>r<strong>in</strong>g service <strong>to</strong> the employer <strong>and</strong> the apprentice/ tra<strong>in</strong>ee throughout the course of the<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g contract<br />

• provide advice on tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g options<br />

• provide appropriate referrals <strong>to</strong> employers seek<strong>in</strong>g assistance with recruitment of an apprentice or tra<strong>in</strong>ee.<br />
