International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma ProgramHigh school students can receive credit through IB Diploma Program. Scores should be sentdirectly to the Office <strong>of</strong> Admissions and Scholarships from the testing agency.<strong>College</strong>-Level Examination Program (CLEP)Individuals who have completed CLEP examinations must submit an <strong>of</strong>ficial CLEP exam reportfor all exams taken prior to enrollment at <strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>State</strong>. Scores must be sent directly to theOffice <strong>of</strong> Admissions and Scholarships from the testing agency. No credit will be awarded forCLEP examinations taken after the student's first enrollment at <strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Creditearned through CLEP will be awarded in chronological order along with other credit-grantingexamination programs (AP, IB, etc.) and/or course work completed at recognized postsecondaryinstitutions. Credit awarded may not exceed 60 total semester hours.International A Level ExaminationsStudents can receive credit through the International A Level examinations. Scores must be sentdirectly to the Office <strong>of</strong> Admissions and Scholarships from the testing agency.Transfer Courses and CreditAcceptance <strong>of</strong> courses and credits deemed suitable for transfer to <strong>MSU</strong> is determined by facultyin the department, school, or college responsible for instruction in the subject area. For currentcourse equivalencies, visit: http://transfer.msu.edu. This website is also useful for studentswishing to take courses at another institution. It will assist in determining whether a course atthat institution will or will not transfer.<strong>MSU</strong> students may attend other institutions as Guest Students or Non–matriculated Students forshort periods, either during the regular academic year or in the summer, for the purpose <strong>of</strong>earning credit for transfer to <strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>.Students planning to attend accredited <strong>Michigan</strong> institutions should use the <strong>Michigan</strong> UniformUndergraduate Guest Application form available on the Web at www.reg.msu.edu. Students whowish to attend non–<strong>Michigan</strong> institutions should obtain application forms from the hostinstitution. The completed form should be taken to the host school.Credits for courses in which passing grades are earned <strong>of</strong> any designation less than "C" (2.0),such as C minus (less than 2.0), are not acceptable in transfer. Effective Fall 2006, a minimum <strong>of</strong>2.0 must be earned in each course in order for the credit to be transferred to <strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>State</strong><strong>University</strong>.<strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> students beyond sophomore standing may not earn credit in two–yearinstitutions for transfer to <strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>State</strong>.Academic AdvisingEach student is responsible for knowing <strong>University</strong>, college, and department or schoolrequirements as stated in the catalog and in college and department or school printed materials.To assist the student in interpreting policies and requirements, academic advisement is providedthrough the colleges and the Undergraduate <strong>University</strong> Division. Students are stronglyencouraged to consult regularly with an adviser. Students may also check progress to theirdegree by using Degree Navigator, available at http://www.degnav.msu.edu.39
