Indeed, one article in Buzzmagazine spoke of the church ‘spiralling into an abyss ofworldliness,’ and being ‘guilty of a massive accommodationto the world’. 81 God was wanting to refine his people, andrestore the purity of the church.David Pawson was one among many who warned againstthe inadequacy of ventures like Billy Graham’s Mission England.He insisted that the charismatic movement had come toprepare for greater things — the establishing of New Testamentradicalism. The purpose of renewal was restoration ofthe church, holiness and national awakening.Our July Church Week was in Northampton and once againwe focused on Zion, the people of God. After that it was backto the mission field. The marquee moved to Milton Keynes.What a potential harvest amongst the aimless youth! But weneeded ‘on fire’ youth to reach them.
