One girl came to Sweden under the pretextthat she would be given a job and a wage, while theother girl said she was forced to travel to Swedenagainst her will. Both preliminary investigations werediscontinued.Human trafficking for sexual purposes involvingpeople aged 18 or over.In 2011, four reports were drawn up concerninghuman trafficking for sexual purposes involving peopleaged 18 or over. In one case, a woman from Ugandatold how she was transported from her homecountry to Sweden by force, under the pretext thatshe was to get married. In the second case, a womantold how she was brought to Sweden with the promiseof being able to attend school in Denmark. Duringthe trip to Sweden, she realised that she was going tobe exploited in prostitution, and in that way pay offher debt for the journey. A third injured-party camefrom Thailand and it was suspected that she was thevictim of human trafficking in conjunction with herapplication for a visa in Thailand and her subsequentstay in Denmark and Sweden. Three of the four preliminaryinvestigations were closed but one led to aconviction and is reported below under the heading -A case of particular interest.Other human trafficking with children under theage of 18In 2011 three reports were drawn up concerning otherhuman trafficking involving children under 18. Twoof these concerned girls where there were indicationsthat they had been transported from Sweden to othercountries to undergo forced marriage. The preliminaryinvestigation was discontinued in both cases.The third report has not yet been finally submitted.Other trafficking involving persons aged 18 or olderIn 2011, seven reports were drawn up concerning otherhuman trafficking involving persons aged 18 orolder. One report concerned a Romanian couple whocame to Sweden from Italy with a promise of workand housing, where payment for the work performedwas not made. In another report, a man was suspectedof arranging marriages between Swedish womenand foreign men using threats and pressure.Suspicions of fake marriages also occurred inanother report in which Thai women were brought toSwedish men for marriage or LTA relationships.When the Thai women arrived in Sweden, they andthe Swedish men were extorted of money by the suspectedperpetrators. The report contained detailabout a man from Serbia who tried to sell women intheir twenties. One report concerned a woman fromNigeria who said she had been forced into prostitutionthrough threats that her family would beharmed. Finally, one report concerned suspicionsabout a man from Iraq being guilty of human traffickingwhen he transported two women in Sweden.In six out of these seven cases, the preliminary investigationhas been closed.Other informationIn 2011, six preliminary investigations concerningprocuring/aggravated procuring were initiated by thepolice authority in Skåne. Only one of these concernedhuman trafficking for sexual purposes and ledto a prosecution. Additionally, 26 preliminary investigationswere initiated in connection with the purchaseof sexual services, of which eight resulted inprosecution. None of these could be attributed tohuman trafficking for sexual purposes.A case of special interestIn December 2011 two men, aged 24 and 30, fromRomania were sentenced by the District Court inHelsingborg to imprisonment for two years and six
