When compared across demographicgroups one finds very little variation, exceptthat slightly more black residents (3.8%) and lowerincome households (3.3%) would prefer programmes#in the early morning before work. Also slightly moremen (17.2%) would prefer programmes in the eveningthan women (13.4%). Appendix 4 contains a full tablewith percentages.In addition to their preferred time of day, residents werealso asked to indicate the characteristics that are mostimportant for them in sport and recreationalprogrammes (see Figure 95). The top five characteristics,in order of importance are:1. Physical and mental fitness;2. Done for enjoyment and relaxation;3. Involves other communities;4. Mass involvement of the community;5.
