38B. Carriage <strong>of</strong> Cabin Crew – (1) No aircraft registered in India shall beoperated for public transport <strong>of</strong> passengers unless the following minimumnumber <strong>of</strong> cabin crew are on board the aircraft for the purpose <strong>of</strong> performingsuch duties as may be assigned in the interest <strong>of</strong> the safety <strong>of</strong> passengers, bythe operator or the Pilot-in-command <strong>of</strong> the aircraft, namely:-(i) For an aeroplane having a seating One cabin crew.capacity <strong>of</strong> not less than 10 andnot more than 50 passengers.(ii) For a helicopter having a seating One cabin crew.capacity <strong>of</strong> not less than 20 andnot more than 50 passengers.(iii) For an aeroplane or a helicopter Two cabin crew plushaving a seating capacity <strong>of</strong> more one cabin crew forthan 50 passengers.each unit (or part <strong>of</strong> aunit) <strong>of</strong> 50 passengerseats above a seatingcapacity <strong>of</strong> 99 passengers.(2) The cabin crew shall be located –(i)(ii)during take-<strong>of</strong>f and landing as near as possible to the floor levelexits, andat any other time, at a suitable place in the aircraft, so as to providethe most effective exit <strong>of</strong> passengers in the event <strong>of</strong> emergencyevacuation.(3) An operator shall ensure that each cabin crew member –(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)is not less than 18 years <strong>of</strong> age;has passed 10+2 examination from a recognised Board orUniversity;has passed an initial medical examination or assessment and hasbeen found medically fit to discharge the duties specified in theOperations Manual;remains medically fit to discharge the duties specified in theOperations Manual; andis competent to perform the duties as cabin crew as specified in theOperations Manual.
