PART XII-B - ENGINEERING, INSPECTION AND NORMALREQUIREMENTS FOR ORGANISATIONS O<strong>THE</strong>R THANOPERATION133B. Approved Organisations- (1) (a) In this part 'organisation' refers to an organisation or aperson engaged in one or more <strong>of</strong> the following activities, namely :-(i) design and manufacture <strong>of</strong> aircraft, aircraft components and items <strong>of</strong> equipmentincluding materials, forging, castings, standard parts;(ii) maintenance, overhaul, modification, repair, inspection, treatment, processing <strong>of</strong>aircraft components and items <strong>of</strong> equipment;(iii) manufacture, storage, distribution and supply <strong>of</strong> aircraft fuel, lubricants, specialproducts;(iv) laboratories and tests to be carried out therein;(v) training schools.(b) In this part 'manual' means Quality Control Manual, Design Manual, Training Manual,required to be provided by an organisation under sub-rule (4).(2) An organisation shall have adequate facilities including qualified and trained staff andnecessary equipment for tests and inspection aids.(3) The Director-General may, on request and on being satisfied, approve an organisation orperson to operate under the system <strong>of</strong> approval. Where considered necessary, organisation orperson engaged in specific activities may be required by the Director-General to operate under anapproved system. For operating under an approved system, the organisation or person shallcomply with such requirements as may be specified by the Director-General.(3A) The approval granted under sub−rule (3), unless suspended or cancelled, shall remain validfor a period not exceeding one year and on being satisfied, the Director General may renew theapproval for a further period <strong>of</strong> one year.(4) (a) An approved organisation shall provide, for the use and guidance <strong>of</strong> its personnel,manuals which shall contain details <strong>of</strong> information concerning policies, procedures, practices andquality control methods relating to activities <strong>of</strong> that organization and as may be specified by theDirector-General.(b) A complete copy <strong>of</strong> the manual or such portions <strong>of</strong> the manual as the Director-General maydirect shall be submitted to the appropriate regional <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Civil</strong> <strong>Aviation</strong> Department forapproval.(c) An approved organization shall revise its manuals from time to time whenever necessary as aresult <strong>of</strong> changes in its operations, aircraft equipment or practices or experience with the existingaircraft equipment or practices.
