3. Výsledky zo západných Karpát / Results from the Western Carpathians________________________________________________________________________________________combination of telemetry and deterministiccamera trapping (Weingarth et al. 2012). Valueshigher than 1.2 ind./100 km 2 have been observedin the Swiss Alps and Jura Mts. (Zimmermann et al.2013, Pesenti & Zimmermann 2013).We had a limited number of camera traps andso our study design differed from the standardcamera trap methodology used in Switzerland andGermany. Our final population estimate of 10–15individuals also took into account analysis of snowtracking data (Kutal 2014) and preliminary resultsof non-invasive genetic samples (Turbaková 2015).Involving volunteers and some local huntersand foresters added a human aspect to ourresearch, with better acceptance of the results bytarget groups. Additionally, camera trap picturesand monitoring results have been used in a publicawareness campaign and in scientific and popularpublications for stakeholders and target groups(Kutal & Suchomel 2014, Ulmanová et al. 2015).We propose long-term monitoring with cameratraps which would allow the construction of lifehistories of individual lynx as a basis for estimatingpopulation viability on a local level.________________________________________________________________________________________Monitoring Lynx lynx carpathicus, Rigg & Kubala (2015) 56
