c. <strong>Trailer</strong> Condensing <strong>Unit</strong> (NDC/NDD)The Genesis TR1000 (NDC/NDD) is a fully charged,pre-wired, refrigeration/heating “nosemount” dieselpowered condensing unit for use on insulated trailers tomaintain cargo temperatures within very close limits. Themodel/serial number plate is located inside of the unit asshowninFigure1-5.The condensing unit consists of anengine---compressor drive package, condenser fan,condenser/radiator coil, control panels, relay module,refrigerant controls, piping, wiring, and associatedcomponents.Heating is accomplished either by circulating hot gasdirectly from the compressor to the evaporator coil or byelectric heaters run by a 5-kilowatt induction generator.Two electric solenoid valves in each evaporator controlthe refrigerant circuit to operate the heating/coolingsystem.Evaporator coil defrosting is initiated by the defrosttimerinthemicroprocessororbythemanualdefrostkeys.The control door and relay module include manualswitches, microprocessor, ammeter, fuses, andassociated wiring.The temperature controller is a microprocessor solidstate controller (Refer to section 1.8). Once thecontroller is set at the desired temperatures, the unit willoperate automatically to maintain the desiredtemperatures within very close limits. The control systemautomatically selects cooling, null or heating as necessaryto maintain the desired temperatures within the trailer.The 05G compressor is equipped with Varipowr asstandard equipment. Varipowr is used as a compressorcapacity control to unload the compressor during periodsof reduced loads. This provides closer temperaturecontrol, reduces potential for top freezing, and reducespower required to operate the compressor, thus reducingfuel consumption.The engine (refer to Table 1-1) gives excellent fueleconomy and has easy starting characteristics. Theengine is equipped with spin-on lube oil and fuel oil filtersforeasierfilterchanges.NOTEThroughout this manual, whenever the “left” or“right” hand side of the engine is referred to, it isthe side as viewed from the flywheel end of theengine.Electrical power for the control system and forcharging the batteries is provided by the 12 vdcalternator.The auto start/stop feature is standard equipment.The auto start/stop operation provides automaticcycling of the diesel engine, which in turn offers an energyefficient alternative to continuous operation of theengine with control of temperature by alternate coolingand heating of the supply air (evaporator outlet air).The diesel engine drives the compressor directlythrough a centrifugal clutch, except during standbyoperation. During standby operation, the centrifugalclutch is disengaged from the compressor sheave. Thecompressor is then belt-driven by the standby motor.d. Model with Phase Sequence ModuleSome units have a Phase Sequence Module (seeFigure 1-8 & Figure 4-22). This phase sequence sensingsystem provides a safe method of automatically providingcorrectly phased three-phase power to the unit. Thisfeature allows the user to connect the unit to any threephase power source of correct voltage and frequencywithout regard to the phase sequence of the powersource.This module contains two electrically identicalsections of circuitry, each connected to a different pair ofphases. Depending on the phase sequence occurring atthe module inputs (X1, X2, H4 and 46), relay PR-1 orPR-2 will be energized as required to effect correctphasing of power to unit.1-5 62-02884
