4.6 SERVICING CLUTCH (<strong>Trailer</strong>)Theclutchmustbeinspectediftheclutchslipsorgrabs. The clutch automatically engages (clutchengagement 550 ¦50 rpm) during starting cycle of theengine as the engine accelerates to low speed. The clutchdoes not engage during standby motor operation.1234a. Remove the two rear compressor bracket mountingbolts (compressor shockmount end).b. Block up engine.56c. Remove clutch V-belts.d. Pump down the unit.e. Remove suction and discharge service valve.f. Attach sling or other device to the compressor.g. Slide compressor enough to remove clutch.h. Remove six (6) 5/16-18 capscrews from rotorassembly (Item 2, Figure 4-9).i. Using three of the capscrews as jacking screws,remove the center section of the clutch housing. This willexpose the snap ring holding the housing to the drive hub.Remove snap ring and housing.8j. After replacing necessary parts, reassemble byreversing above steps.7k.
