Avoid toppingoff partially full batteries.Once every few months,discharge cells to 8-10V usinga standard discharger to minimizetheir memory.• Do not rapid-charge yourcells more than necessary, asthe added heat will eventuallyshorten their life span. Insteadrecharge batteries at a normalcharging rate when your scheduleallows.• If your batteries will not beused for long periods of time,always store them in a cool dryenvironment fully charged.2.7.3 Other Power OptionsSince the AATON <strong>35</strong>-III power input is a standard 4 pin XLR type,a great varitey of 12-14 volt sources can be used to power the camera.This includes AC power supplies, battery blocks, lithium cellsand car batteries.Get into the habit of carrying a standard XLR4 powercable in yourpackage in case an alternative power source is needed.Regarding AC power supplies, it is recommended that the unit youuse be at least 5 A and 25 W. Before connecting any non-standardsource, always make sure that the pin configuration of the unit iscorrect. See the Technical Specifications chapter of this manual fordetails for proper wiring.2.8 MOTORThe tri-phase samarium design of the AATON <strong>35</strong>-III provides lowpower consumption and improved stability at high speeds. Thebody is capable of speeds between 3 and 40 fps with a standard12V battery.2.8.1 Camera SpeedsThe AATON <strong>35</strong>-III provides boths preset crystal speeds (in syncmode) and specific crystal speeds (in variable mode) in .001 increments,all accessible from the LCD control panel.Available preset speeds consist of 6, 12, 18, 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97and 30. The preset speed selector (SYNC) allows for quick access tothese frequently used speeds.If any other speed is desired, or if the camera speed must match thefrequency of a monitor to eliminate a roll bar, the specific speedselector (VAR) should be employed.
