Ask them to assesseach action identified in the previous exercise, according to thefollowing CIT (change, influence, transformation) criteria:■ Can the action be implemented by those at risk for immediatechange?■ If the action is beyond the capacity of those at risk, could theyinfluence change with the support of others over the mediumterm?
How to do a VCA 69■ Is the action linked to more fundamental social and/or structuraltransformation requiring a long-term strategy to belooked at in the future?As they work through the exercise, participants may also wish toconsider other criteria, bearing in mind that not all solutions areequally beneficial and that some are more difficult to achieve thanothers. These “supplementary” criteria could include, for example:power relations, gender concerns, culture, increased income,reduced risk, skills available, environmental themes, etc.The proposed solutions should then be recorded in a chart suchas that shown in Table 4, below.
