She was alsothe winner of the SABC2/Shorprite-Checkers Woman ofthe year in Science and Technology in 2004.■ Cyril Thomas O’Connor is Dean of the Faculty ofEngineering and the Built Environment and Director ofthe Mineral Processing Research Unit at the University ofCape Town. Previously, he was Professor and Head of theDepartment of Chemical Engineering at UCT.■ Darragh O’Donoghue is Co-Director of the WholeEarth Telescope, and Head of the InstrumentationDivision at the South African Astronomical Observatory(SAAO).■ Douglas William Oliver is Professor of Pharmacologyand the Director of the School of Pharmacy at theNorth-West University. He was Director of the FocusArea for Drug Design and Development of North-WestUniversity.■ Phillip Onyebujoh is the Manager for Proof of Principleand Implementation Research on Tuberculosis andLeprosy at the World Health Organization.■ Gilbert Oke Martin Onwu is Professor of ChemicalEducation in the Faculty of Education and Head of theDepartment of Science, Mathematics and TechnologyEducation at the University of Pretoria. He was Professorand Head of the Institute of Science and MathematicsEducation University of Venda.■ Frederick Mark Orkin was President and CEO of theHuman Sciences Research Council, Head of StatisticsSouth Africa and Professor of Social Research Methodologyin the Faculty of Management at the University ofthe Witwatersrand.■ Nicky Gopalan Padayachee was Professor and Dean ofthe Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town.He is President of the Health Professions Council of SouthAfrica.■ Iqbal Parker is the Head of the Division of MedicalBiochemistry and Director of Research in the HealthScience Faculty at the University of Cape Town.
