ASSAfProgramme 1Care is taken to involve all members inthe activities <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong>. Membersare kept informed <strong>of</strong> developmentsthrough circulars, a quarterlyMembers’ Newsletter, and the minutes<strong>of</strong> Council meetings. Members are alsoinvolved in the election <strong>of</strong> Council, inthe formation <strong>of</strong> Study Panels andSteering Committees for science-basedadvice functions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong>,in the election <strong>of</strong> new members,and in nominating awardees.They also have the opportunity <strong>of</strong>direct representation at the AGM.The members (MASSAf) – core asset <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong>A further round <strong>of</strong> nominating and electing new members by all existing members wasconducted during August and September <strong>2005</strong>. Thirty new members were added to the ranks, whilefour members resigned for reasons <strong>of</strong> ill-health or permanent foreign residence.
