Training on AEPS, and regionalization of the AIDP to provide a visible presence of theservices in each region.The staff partnered withprofessionalsandorganizations in the FraserRegion, namely: Fraser ValleyCDC Screening Committeewhich host meetings inclusiveof Chilliwack Health UnitSpeech and Language;Aboriginal Child and YouthMental Health; Paediatricians;Occupational Therapists;Children and Youth withSpecial Needs–ChilliwackCommunity Services; FraserHealth; Stó:lô <strong>Nation</strong> HealthServices; Mission Child andYouth Mental Health; Abbotsford CDC; Abbotsford Community Services; AboriginalEducation Center; Mission Indian Friendship Center; School Districts; and Churches ofdifferent denominations.Aboriginal Supported Child Deve<strong>lo</strong>pment Program (ASCDP)Aboriginal Supported Child Deve<strong>lo</strong>pment (ASCD) is designed to specifically meet the needsof children who require additional support. ASCD Programs are deve<strong>lo</strong>ped with culturalvalues, beliefs and traditions in mind. The Stó:lō <strong>Nation</strong> ASCD Program works in partnershipwith families and child care providers in the Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Mission areas.The ASCD program provides culturallyappropriate support services to childrenwith special needs, specifically:physical; cognitive; communicative;social; emotional; and behavioural.Children receiving services must beattending preschool, after school care,or a Head Start Program. Support isprovided in daycares or in homes (forexceptional circumstances), and includethe fol<strong>lo</strong>wing services:1. Assistance finding childcare;2. Support and consultation with families and childcare programs;3. Individual planning;4. Extra staffing support if needed in childcare setting;5. Training and support for families and childcare providers;6. Assistance accessing other community resources;Page 39 of 64
