With the emerging cloud computing technology,resources are distributed on the internet through Content Delivery Networks, and as a result,data streaming technologies is becoming more important in the next development stage ofSmartphone usages on the internet. Communication betweenany two devices requires some form of networking to establish connectivity. The issuebecomes very complex when it comes to establishing connectivity for a great number ofdevices over great distances. The need to manage this complexity arises in the OSI model ofnetworking.Wireless Mesh and NetworkingAdvisor : CHAN Gary S H / CSEStudent : CHEN Lixi / ELEC(UROP1100, Spring 2011)This is a study on recent advances and open research issues in wireless mesh networks(WMN). System architectures and applications of WMNs are described, followed bydiscussion of critical factors influencing protocol design. Theoretical network capacity andthe state-of-the-art protocols for WMNs are explored with an objective to highlight a numberof open research issues. Testbeds, industrial practice, and current standard activities related toWMNs are also discussed.35
