Counting Step Function Based on eZ430-ChronosAdvisorCo-AdvisorStudent: WONG Albert K S / ECE: WOO Kam Tim / ECE: YU Fei / ELEC-HR(UROP1000, Summer 2011)This study is to develop a step-counting function using the Texas Instruments eZ430-Chronoswatch platform, which provides three dimensional acceleration readings from its built-inaccelerometer. We have successfully set up the environment and programmed the MCU torecord the acceleration readings on its own and save these readings to flash memory foraccess later. Program for the actual step-counting algorithm is to be completed.Modeling, Fabrication and Characterization of Solar CellAdvisor : WONG Man / ECEStudent : WEN Ximiao / ELEC-HR(UROP1100, Summer 2011)This project focuses on developing a computer program which is capable of extracting solarcell model parameters, based on the knowledge of current-voltage data of a solar cell, andsimulating the effects caused by modifications of these parameters to the solar cell electricbehavior. The aim is to build a new module, which can simulate the distributed model of solarcell, and predict the number of stages that can make the simulation converge.Building a Helicopter RobotAdvisor : WOO Kam Tim / ECEStudents : CHU Pak Him / ELEC(UROP1000, Summer 2011)LEE Ho Sum / MECH(UROP1000, Summer 2011)LIN Ka Sing / ELEC(UROP1000, Summer 2011)NGAN Ka Chai / ELEC(UROP1000, Summer 2011)TANG Wang Hin / MECH(UROP1000, Summer 2011)WONG Ka Kin / MECH(UROP1000, Summer 2011)The objective of our team in this project is to build a helicopter. Normally, a helicopter hastwo propellers on the axis of the motor. However, we want to design a remotely operatedhelicopter in a different way. We compare different methods of mechanical design andmathematical theories in the movement of helicopters, and the availability of materials inHong Kong. Testing is done on different designs for further improvement in the future.52
