is a free service to the district utilizing digital storytelling to improve
student learning and allow differentiated instruction and higher learning
thinking skills to be acquired in classrooms. Virtual field trips become a
teacher tool; the possibilities are endless. The purpose of this is to
collaborate and connect to the global world using dynamic resources in
technology.
H. CAREER RESOURCE CENTER
The Ocean County Consortium is doing away with Educational and Career
Opportunity System (ECOS) effective January 1, 2008 and will be
investigating a new Resource Center Program to service students in the
college process.
I. ESL FALL EXIT REPORT
The ESL Fall Exit and Enrollment Tracking Report was submitted to the
State Department before the due date.
J. VHS
One hundred (100) students are enrolled in VHS courses for the 2007-08
school year. There is a possibility of a few seats for the spring session.
Students can sign up once we have further information in late November.
Overall performance for students enrolled in the fall session appears to be
a B-A average. Students seem to be enjoying the distance learning
approach in all areas.
K. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR GIFTED YOUTH (EPGY)
One (1) student is currently in EPGY and performing well.
L. GRADE 7-8 STATE TESTING
The County Office received approval to designate April 29, 2008 for
administration of 7-8 ASK testing. This change in testing was changed
because the spring recess conflicted with the original testing dates.
M. DENTAL CLINIC
This year’s dental clinic will be held on Thursday, November 1 and every
Thursday after that until our students’ exams are completed. It will again
be held at the OCHD in Toms River since the Manahawkin location has
been closed. Students will be notified every week of the students/schools
for pick up.
