3. MOTION TO APPROVE CRISIS INTERVENTION MANUAL<br />
Motion to approve the Crisis Intervention Manual. The purpose of the<br />
Crisis Intervention Manual/Handbook is to assist each school and<br />
department in preparing for a possibility of a crisis. Research has<br />
demonstrated the value of effective preparation and response to a crisis.<br />
Preparation for a crisis is essential to ensure an effective and wellorganized<br />
response to a school crisis. While there is no crisis<br />
preparation and response plan that will work best for all situations, the<br />
manual does provide a model that “the crisis team” can adapt to their<br />
unique needs and situations.<br />
4. MOTION TO APPROVE CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND<br />
CHECK FEE FOR STUDENT TEACHERS BE PAID BY<br />
<strong>BARNEGAT</strong> <strong>BOARD</strong> <strong>OF</strong> <strong>EDUCATION</strong><br />
Motion to approve the criminal history background check fee for student<br />
teachers be paid by the Barnegat Board of Education. Educational<br />
facilities cannot mandate student teachers to undergo a criminal history<br />
background check and obtain substitute teaching credentials prior to<br />
them fulfilling their scholastic obligation to perform student teaching in<br />
the public school system. To protect the students of Barnegat Township<br />
Schools, the criminal history background check fee for student teachers<br />
must be paid by the Barnegat Board of Education.<br />
5. MOTION TO APPROVE CHANGING THE MAY 9, 2008<br />
PR<strong>OF</strong>ESSIONAL DAY TO MAY 1, 2008.<br />
Motion to approve changing the professional day originally scheduled<br />
for May 9, 2008 to May 1, 2008. This change is necessary due to a<br />
conflict with AP Studio Art and AP History testing date.<br />
6. MOTION TO APPROVE PARTICIPATION IN OCEAN COUNTY<br />
TECH PREP CONSORTIUM<br />
Motion to approve participation in the Ocean County Tech Prep<br />
Consortium. The Ocean County Tech Prep Consortium has been<br />
awarded a three-year Tech Prep Grant with the Ocean County<br />
Vocational-Technical School as the Lead Agency. Education and<br />
