awakened, slurred speech, not in control of self or not functioning under own power, erraticbehavior, threat to self or others.Wet rooms: Room or suite in which all students assigned are 21 or older in Baxter orNoonan Hall.Wet room contract: Agreement is signed by students in room/suite in which all residentsare of legal age.Drinking Game: Games in which the intent is to consume alcohol in an irresponsible way.(e.g., beer pong, quarters).VIOLATIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY’S REGULATIONS REGARDING ALCOHOLINCLUDE:1. Intoxication is prohibited anywhere on campus or at any official <strong>University</strong> eventoff campus, including athletic events. Being under the influence never justifiesirresponsible behavior or violation of <strong>University</strong> policies. Students violating any<strong>University</strong> regulation while under the influence will face additional penalties <strong>and</strong>fines for violating the alcohol policy.2. Providing alcohol to minors anywhere on campus or at <strong>University</strong> events off thecampus, even if the minor is not a <strong>Briar</strong> <strong>Cliff</strong> student is prohibited.3. Possession (on their persons, in their rooms, or in cars) by Minors possessing alcohol containers, open or closed, empty or full or in thepresence of alcoholic beverages (i.e., in residence hall room with open <strong>and</strong>closed container of alcohol).Students 21 <strong>and</strong> older possessing open alcohol containers outside theirrooms.4. Possession of alcohol by anyone in a location designated as dry.5. Keg or large alcohol container, full or empty, larger than a half-gallon (1.75 litersor 64 oz.) constitutes an automatic $200 fine charged to the provider(s).Providers also may face additional alcohol violation sanctions <strong>and</strong> fines.6. Possession of beer bongs, keg taps, or other paraphernalia by any studentregardless of age.7. For sanitary reasons, can <strong>and</strong> bottle displays are not allowed in any <strong>University</strong>residence hall. Minors will be fined for possession of alcohol cans, bottles, <strong>and</strong>other containers. Cans <strong>and</strong> bottles should be disposed of properly.SANCTIONS FOR ALCOHOL VIOLATIONSThe appropriate Student Development staff member determines specific sanctions for alcoholviolations. Students violating alcohol policies may receive one or more of the followingsanctions: confiscation <strong>and</strong> disposal of alcohol, monetary fine, educational sanctions, campuswork assignment, disciplinary probation, loss of scholarship, suspension from the <strong>University</strong>,or m<strong>and</strong>atory alcohol counseling. Staff will confiscate paraphernalia. All fines are directlycharged to student accounts.First violation within an academic year: Minimum $100 fine Educational sanction(s) <strong>University</strong> will require the student to undergo a chemical dependency evaluationor participate in an alcohol education, rehabilitation, or counseling program. Vice President for Student Development or designee may notify parent(s) orguardian(s) Completion of sanctions may result in reduced fine.37
