Students will be required to makeup any deficiencies in their undergraduate work. Admission Requirementsalso include a current resume and a two- to three-page writingsample (double spaced).Applicants who do not have an overall quality point average of2.75 or greater will be required to pass a personal interview to evaluatelife experiences or take either the <strong>Graduate</strong> Record Exam (GRE)or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) prior to admission.The Master of Public Administration degree program requires thecompletion of a minimum of 36 semester hour credits of graduatework. Each student’s program will include core courses and a sixcreditthesis or an internship.Organizational Theory and Behavior, PLS501, should be amongthe first core courses taken by students. PLS601 is a prerequisite forPublic Policy Analysis, PLS603. PLS605 should be taken as late aspossible in a student’s program to provide a capstone experience. By providing three separatetracks, the program is flexible enough for students to design a courseof study appropriate for their specific needs. Students must declaretheir commitment to a track by the beginning of their second year.1. The Research Track is appropriate for those students seekingdegrees beyond the master’s level. This track allows students tospecialize in a subarea of psychology via elective selection and arequired thesis (Thesis I and II).2. The Applied Track is appropriate for graduates who are tryingto secure employment in industry, government, or non-profitsimmediately after graduation. Students have opportunities to takecourses with more applied emphases (e.g., Human Factors, CognitiveScience) and have two semesters of real-world experience(Field Experience I and II) in industry settings.3. The General/Reading Track is designed to meet the needs ofthose seeking to continue education or advance in their currentplace of employment. Students will take basic required scientificcourses, fulfill cluster requirements, and take additional courseworkto broaden their scope. Their competence will be demonstratedby passing a comprehensive exam.To be considered for the M.S. in psychological science program,the following minimum requirements must be met. An applicantmust:• Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college oruniversity• Have a minimum 2.75 quality point average• Have a minimum of six credit hours, successfully completed, inpsychology• Have at least one course, successfully completed, in statisticsAn applicant must submit an application, including a personalgoals statement by the first Tuesday in March for summer or falladmission, or the first Tuesday in November for spring admission.43
