GRETEL12-METRE YACHT FROM 1962 AMERICA’S CUPThis is a true piece of yachting history! The 12-metre“Gretel” was challenger for the America’s Cup in1962 and the first Australian 12 ever. The challengeof Sir Frank Packer and “Gretel” was a dangerousone for the Americans, the races against the defender“Weatherly” very close. The Australians won the raceon 18th September 1962, the first time since 1934that the Americans had lost a Cup race. The finalscore of four to one races for “Weatherly” does notreflect how exciting the racing really was. Magazinesall over the world identified “Gretel” as the faster boatand saw the Americans just winning due to the greaterefficiency of the crew and greater experience. Wehave now found her in Italy and will restore her to heroriginal condition to preserve this important piece ofyachting history for the next generations.|LOA: 21.16 m |Beam: 3.58 m |Draft: 2.67 m |Displacement: 26.6 tons |Price: on requestYACHTS+49 (0)461 31 80 30 60 · CLASSICS@ROBBEBERKING.DE · WWW.CLASSICS.ROBBEBERKING.DE85
