HOODAll engine hoods, covers or doors to access and check engine compartment fluid levels shall notrequire more than twenty five (25) pounds <strong>of</strong> force to open or close.HORNSEach bus shall be equipped with dual note horns or dual horns <strong>of</strong> standard make. Each horn(s)shall produce audible sounds in the frequency range from two hundred fifty (250) to twothousand (2,000) hertz. The sound level measurements shall be made at a distance <strong>of</strong> fifty(50) feet directly in front <strong>of</strong> the vehicle in accordance with SAE J377.SHOCK ABSORBERSFront and rear, double acting; adequate size for axle load.SPRINGSFront: Manufacture standard coil or double-wrap stationary end leaf spring.Rear: Progressive or vari-ride type.STEERINGAll buses shall have factory-installed power steering, integral type. A factory installed tiltsteering wheel/column is required.TIRESAll tires shall be steel belted radial tubeless type.TRANSMISSION, AUTOMATICAll buses shall be delivered with an automatic transmission as standard (See ManualTransmission option, Section F). The automatic transmission must be appropriate to thepassenger rating, GVWR, and engine size and type. Purchasers desiring a heavy-dutytransmission for harsh terrain should seek additional information from the vendors.TURN SIGNALSTurn signals shall have a dash indicator light, self-canceling switch.Section B-5
