AIR CONDITIONING SPECIFICATIONSDEFINITIONS"Manufacturer" – References to “manufacturer” in this section refer to the "A/CEquipment Manufacturer".“Contractor” - References to “contractor” in this section refer to the company responsiblefor the temperature reduction test.“Vendor” - Company selling the bus.This is a performance specification.A test must be performed by the vendor, unbiased, independently certified, and documented bya third party capable <strong>of</strong> performing the testing procedures as outlined below for each series <strong>of</strong>buses. (Certified in-house testing facility may be acceptable.) Tests shall be performedat the expense <strong>of</strong> the vendor. Test data must be provided to the purchaser upon writtenrequest. The purchaser must be able to replicate the test and results. However, if theA/C system presented does not pass after three (3) tests, the manufacturer shall supplyanother system to meet the requirements.SERIES OF BUSES TO BE TESTEDPassengers<strong>Bus</strong> Types14 - 42 Type A14 - 53 Type C & D59 - 72 Type C & D77 - 90 Type C & DTEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIALShall be held under the following conditions:1. Air conditioning system will be designed to operate at 110º F, 50% humidity, and fullsunshine.2. All doors and vents closed and under a steady state condition.3. All interior bus temperature measurements must fall within the comfort range <strong>of</strong> 30º Fcooler than outside ambient temperature, plus or minus 3º F.AIR CONDITIONING TEST1. The Contractor will test the air conditioning system by placing the Manufacturer’s bus in aheat booth or similar surroundings, then heat saturate the entire bus (interior) such that theinterior <strong>of</strong> the bus shall have a maximum temperature <strong>of</strong> 110º F and a minimum <strong>of</strong>, no lessthan, 100º F. The bus shall be heat saturated for a minimum <strong>of</strong> two (2) hours. Insidetemperatures are measured at the three (3) described locations as stated below.Section E-1
