MinutesPetaluma Faculty Forum<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Rosa</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>College</strong>August 26, 20<strong>03</strong>(pending approval)PRESENT: Meredith Freedman, Elisa Conti, Rosemary Ward, Kris Shanks, CherylDunn, Kirsten Lindstrom, Susan Jaderstrom, Breck Withers, Doug Garrison, KimberleeMessina, Karen Petersen, Deanna Hatter, Jim Elrod, Norberto Quiroz, Jeff Clark,Gloria deBlasio, Nancy Persons, Mary Pierce, Joel RudinowMINUTES: There were no minutes from the May 14, 20<strong>03</strong> meeting. Breck presenteda draftreconstructed from his notes, since Judy Stedman had taken the official notes fromthat meeting.He asked that those who were presentreview and submit changes or additions.OPEN FORUM:1. Nancy Persons announced that the librarians in Petaluma are offering to provideclassroom presentations that will include a guide to resources. She alsoannounced that data base sessions, and teleconferencing facilities are nowavailable. She suggested that music, video, and book requests be submittednow.2. Karen Peterson presented the Arts and Lectures schedule for Fall 20<strong>03</strong>.3. Jim Elrod and Cheryl Dunn reminded those present that they serve as AFArepresentatives.REPORTS:1. Academic Senate – Breck reported that the Senate Resolution in response to theOak Leaf Article was approved, and that there is to be follow-up discussion inOctober. He also provided copies of the May 7 th , 20<strong>03</strong> Senate Minutes. FutureSenate agenda items will include the “kill the president” issue. Breckencouraged Petaluma faculty to use PFF as the liaison for bringing topics andissues forward to the formal Academic Senate agenda. Kimberlee Messina isthe president-elect of the Academic Senate.2. Students Services- Deanna announced that there were changes in thecounseling department, including the return of Norberto Quiroz and an increasein hours for Eliza Conti in Disability Resources. She encouraged faculty toaccommodate short presentations by counselors in order to remind studentsabout priority registration for Spring 2004.<strong>11</strong>
