3. AFA- Jim and Cheryl reminded those present that AFA is still enforcing thecontract. They will report back to PFF on a regular basis, and encouragedfaculty to call them regarding specific questions.DISCUSSION:1. Acknowledgement of Faculty- Rosemary offered a moment to reflect on the lossof adjunct colleagues, and the untimely death of Judy Stedman.2. Meeting Times and Dates – The fourth Tuesday meeting time eliminates a largeportion of faculty. discussion focused on the need for both availability andconsistency of PFF meetings in order to draw upon the largest attendance basepossible. The steering committee will send out an e-mail to solicit additionalfeedback.3. PDA Follow-Up Summary – A working copy/unapproved draft was presentedfrom the August 15 th PDA presentation. Nikona asked that faculty review thisinitial draft and forward additional comments or questions to the PFF steeringcommittee.4. Smoking Policy – Breck summarized the discussions from Sp.’<strong>03</strong>. SusanJaderstrom offered the name of a consultant from the Lung Association whoprovides help to organizations regarding smoking issues. There was a consensusthat a subcommittee be formed to “inform and educate” students and reviewthe current SRJC policy. This committee would include faculty (Breck and Susanvolunteered), students, staff, and R. Ethington. This item was moved to anACTION item for the next PFF meeting.5. Decision-Making- Discussion focused on the possible use of Robert’s Rules ofOrder. Kimberlee Messina and Mary Pierce shared that historically this had beenused for PFF meetings. The consensus was to initiate Robert’s Rules for PFF.Mary will send along an abbreviated version that was distributed for use in theAcademic Senate meetings.6. Subcommittees – Nikona reported that the use of various subcommittees as partof PFF would be a means for greater faculty participation, and for meaningfuldialogue to occur at PFF meetings.ACTION:Nominations for Adjunct member of Steering Committee - No official action wastaken, however several people agreed to speak to colleagues, and Terry Ehret wasnominated to serve on the committee since she is currently a Petaluma senator.Meeting adjourned at 4:35 PM12
