Soft Error Table FormatThe printer soft error recording table contains a count for each printer soft errorthat occurred. The table contains one entry for each printer on the system. Eachentry is 20 bytes long, and each byte is assigned to a specific error code as follows:Soft Table EntryError Codes 2500 through 2509Error Codes 2530 through 2539-5225 PrinterIError Codes 2540 through 2549-5256 PrinterIIf a count byte reaches 255 (hexadecimal FF), the error is stored in the hard-errortable and is no longer counted.Resource Allocation TableThe resource allocation table defines the physical address of each logical devicethat can be used by each partition. The table is created and initialized as a useroption during the system configuration portion of the SCPo If a resource allocationtable has been created and placed into the common area, the system flag at addresshex ~O, bit 4 is 1; the address of the table is at hex 06-07 in the system controlblock. The resource allocation table consists of a 4-byte partition header for each partition, followed by a 4-byte device entry for each device that can be used by that partition. When the main microprocessor attempts to open an lOB that specifies a logicaldevice 10 instead ot'a physical address, it uses the resource allocation table to findthe physical address. The main microprocessor se-arches the table until it finds thefirst entry for that partition or the first global partition entry. It then searches thedevice entries for a matching device 10. If no match is found, it continues searchingthe partition headers for another entry for the partition or another global partitionentry. The search continues until- the matching device 10 is found or until thetable is exhausted. If no match is found, an error is reported. If a match is found, the device at the physical address specified in the table is used to open the data set.46
