Chapter 4 - OperationAdvanced Operation Settings MenuThe IM3004s Advanced Operation Settings provides access to the Operational Modesettings. The menu is displayed by selecting the Main Tab from the Advanced InterfaceControl Console. The Advanced Operation Settings Menu provides the Operator witha menu of Operational Mode Settings for the selected Operation. The Settings menulist is dynamic, and will change to reflect the selected Operational Mode. Chapter 4 - OperationPercent of Disk SettingsThe Percent of Disk Settings menu provides the Operator with a list of settings availablefor the selected operation. The menu is selected when the Operational Mode is selectedfrom the Operational Mode Select Menu.• Percentage of Copy• Read Back-Verify• Hash Targets• Hashing MethodsPercentage of CopyFigure 9The Percentage of Copy setting is used to enter the percent value of the sourcedrive’s sectors to transfer. A value between 0.1 and 100% can be entered.Read Back-VerifyProvides additional data integrity checks during data transfers. When Read Back-Verify is selected the operation will verify each block of data transferred during thedata transfer process. Data written to the Target drive is read back and compared tothe data read from the Source drive. Enabling this option results in reducing thetransfer rate. Disabling this option will result in the data transfer process to makeuse of the drive's own Ultra DMA Mode error-detection handling mechanism knownas cyclical redundancy checking (CRC-16) to check for Data Integrity. In mostcases the CRC-16 error checking algorithm is sufficient. CRC is an algorithm thatcalculates an order and value sensitive checksum used to detect errors in a streamof data. Both the Source drive and the Target drives calculate a CRC value for eachUltra DMA burst. After the Source data is sent, the Target drive calculates a CRCvalue and this is compared to the original Source CRC value. If a difference isreported, the unit may be required to select a slower transfer mode and re-try the35
