Apart from supporting TNB’sstrategic plan, CSD’s core operational focus andobjectives is to give assurance and confidence toTNB stakeholders on the security and safety ofits assets/installations from any threat andintrusion towards ensuring uninterrupted powersupply. The Division is also committed tocontribute effectively to the business goals andgrowth of TNB through value creation, efficiencyimprovement and adoption of best practices.Operational SummaryCSD provides crucial support by ensuring that allTNB installations/assets are secured and safelyguarded, in particular those assets which havebeen gazetted as National Critical Infrastructure.Thus, the Security Services and IntelligenceDepartment (SSID) is entrusted, not only toprotect TNB’s assets but also national assetsfrom any threat and intrusion. The Departmenthas been proactive by undertaking strictcompliance and conformance measures, adoptingand implementing necessary legislation andeffectively sharing information at bilateral,regional and multilateral levels.SSID consists of four units, namely Operation,Planning & Crisis Management, Investigation &Intelligence and Support Services. Total staffstrength stood at 961 comprising 33 executivesand 928 non-executives. With the limitedresources, SSID has been mandated to providesecurity protection to thousands of TNBinstallations across the country. Besides securitycoverage, SSID personnel under the Investigation& Intelligence Unit are also entrusted to investigatecriminal related cases involving TNB assets.Apart from securing TNB’s sensitive industrialundertakings such as power installations,transmission power lines, critical substations andother installations, SSID has recently assistedSMOD in cases of electricity power theft. Inaddition the Department has increasingly beencalled upon to perform important duties beyondits charter.To enable SSID personnel to perform and delivertheir tasks effectively and efficiently, continuoustraining and development programmes have beenput in place throughout the year to enhance theirknowledge and improve their skills andcompetencies in security and related field.The role of safeguarding national and TNB assetsagainst sabotage, subversion and espionage byundesirable elements is very important andcritical. These issues have been discussed notonly internally in TNB but also with other relevantbodies/agencies. In this regard, SSID alwayswork closely with enforcement agencies toensure an orderly, effective and comprehensiveapproach to these challenges.With the advent of fast changing technology andthe diversity of security options, SSID today is onthe verge of a catalytic change in its profile, achange that promises to transform its imagefrom a primarily industrial security services to amulti-faceted specialist security agency on theforefront of the national security scenario.The Property Services Department’s (PSD)core operational focus is to support the Divisionin realising TNB’s vision and mission througheffective Property Management services.The department has six units under its jurisdictionnamely property planning and development, landprocurement, project management, propertymanagement and property maintenance. Itsobjective is to enhance TNB’s asset value throughexcellent property development, managementand maintenance.To achieve this, PSD looks forward maximisingthe utilisation of TNB’s assets and to generaterevenues from idle TNB assets. In addition, it hasalso implemented several initiatives to supportthe SE 10/10 vision. These include Energy SavingInitiative in line with Ops-Trim X objective,establishment of schedule rates for maintenanceworks, establishment of panel consultants andvaluers, formulation of Asset Policy to addressmanagement of assets within TNB, application ofNIOSH-TNB Safety Passport for all contractors,etc.PSD strives to maintain, improve and enhancethe reliability, quality and timeliness of servicesrendered to its customers.The Logistics Services Department (LSD)consists of three (3) operational units, namelyFreight Management, Fleet Management andGenerator Set Services. As a one stop logisticsservice provider and an integrated centre thatsupports the core business divisions and othersubsidiaries, LSD’s role is to ensure that logisticsrequirements for TNB as a whole, are managedand handled professionally in cost-effective,timely and safe manner.LSD also plays a vital role in ensuring TNBlogistics requirements are fulfilled to meet itscustomer needs and increases their satisfactionlevel. To this end, various initiatives have beenimplemented among which are review panelworkshops and panel transporters performancesfor the four regions, appointment of new panelworkshops, review schedule rate for inlandtransportation, centralisation of TNB vehicle dataand completion of physical audit of vehicles, rollout and establishment of Integrated FleetManagement System (IFMS) or PERFEKTO systemfor management of all TNB vehicles, increasedthe number of certified engine drivers, andincreased value creation and savings throughdaily operations of freight management, fleetmanagement and gen set services.
