Strict emissionregulations observed by the station allowed itsgrounds to be the main converging site for birdslike plovers, herons, godwit, sandpipers andegrets. This is part of TNB’s efforts to living toharmony with Nature.TNB Youth Motivation, Education AndEnvironmental Awareness ProgrammeDuring the period under review, TNB invited 60of its employees’ children to participate in thisprogram to inculcate environmental awarenessamong the youth and particularly the preservationof fireflies at Kg. Kuantan, Kuala Selangor.POWERING THE WORK FORCETNB believes that its employees are its greatestassets. Its CSR initiatives for the employees overthe year involved systematic training programmesand career development opportunities to enhancetheir professionalism as well as to encouragetheir involvement in volunteerism andextracurricular activities to achieve a good worklifebalance.Health BenefitsTNB provides a wide range of health and medicalbenefits and is committed towards ensuring itsemployees, retirees and eligible dependentsreceive the best services in healthcare andmedical treatment. The company also providesother medical aids such as wheelchairs, hearingaids and prosthetic limbs. Children of employeesare eligible for medical benefits up to the age of18 years or up to 24 years if they are still pursuingstudies at institutions of higher learning.Sports And Recreation ClubA wide range of physical and recreationalfacilities and social activities are providedthrough the Kilat Club to enhance employeewell-being and morale. During the period underreview, there were 65 registered Kilat Clubs inthe Country and TNB has spent approximatelyRM520,000.00 to finance sports and socialactivities through the Club. TNB also gives asubsidy of RM3.00 monthly to all employees whopay their Kilat Club monthly fees through salarydeduction.TNB also provides other platforms for employeesto conduct and participate in social activitiesthrough societies such as Pelitawanis andPakatan/Persatuan Kebajikan Pekerja Islam TNB(PKPI).Currently, Pelitawanis has a membership of 5,637employees and activities held in the year underreview included financial and in kind contributionsto the needy and old folks during major festivals,contribution of school uniforms to children frompoor families, their Annual Sports Day at KelabKilat, and Raya cookies contribution to the 6,000TNB staff who worked on the 1st day of HariRaya Aidilfitri.Meanwhile, Pakatan/PKPI contributed RM10,000.00to the printing of the Bahasa Malaysia version ofthe Al-Qur’an. They also established theHumanitarian Aid Fund for Palestinians in Gazawith the total collection amounting to RM34,850.99to fund redevelopment of public amenities, reopeningof crop estates and repair & restorationof civilian houses in Gaza.Kumpulan Wang Khairat Dan Pesara TNB(Death Levy Fund)Kumpulan Wang Khairat Pekerja dan Pesara TNB(KWKPPTNB) was incorporated on 3 June 1969under the name Kilat Death Levy Fund andchanged its name to the present one on 4 July2005. KWKPPTNB was established to managemonetary contribution of funds collected frommembers to elected beneficiaries of the deceasedemployee and acts as a means of relief fromsome of the financial burden of the deceasedemployee’s family.KWKPPTNB’s membership consists of ordinaryand life members (those who have been aKWKPPTNB member for at least 15 years atretirement age). During the period under review,there were 12,820 ordinary members and 2,912life members.
