The focus of theunit is on understanding the different ways inwhich mental health problems impact on theindividual and others in their social network. Italso considers the benefits of early interventionin promoting mental health and well-being.Additional information In learning outcome 1, assessment criterion 1,learners are asked to describe ‘the main typesof mental ill health according to the psychiatric(DSM/ICD) classification system’. Learnersshould demonstrate knowledge of how types ofmental health are categorised by their mainsigns and symptoms and how the systemattempts to draw a line between mental healthand mental disorder.
