Standard Mixtures for EPA 500 SeriesFor Drinking WaterBackground InformationIn 1974, the Safe Drinking Water Act waspassed by the US Congress. Under the Act,the USEPA established national standards fordrinking water from both surface and groundwater sources. The EPA 500 Series Methodshave evolved from the passage of the CleanWater Act, and from several amendments to theoriginal Act.The 500 Series product line contains standardsused in proposed and promulgated methods forthe identification and quantification of organiccompounds in drinking water. The organiccompounds listed in the various methodsinclude volatile organic compounds (VOCs),pesticides, synthetic organic compounds(SOCs), and trihalomethane disinfection byproducts.Analytical techniques used in the identificationand quantification include gas chromatographywith selective detectors (PID, ELCD, ECD, FID,NPD, FPD), gas chromatography/massspectrometry (GC/MS) and high performanceliquid chromatography (HPLC).Complete analysis of the target compounds withthese 500 Series Methods can beaccomplished by using the series of standardsformulated by AccuStandard for each methodalong with the required internal and surrogatestandards. For your convenience we offer either largemixes containing all the target analytes, orsmaller sub-mixes at higher concentrations toallow for flexibility in your analysis.Method # Method Description 157-184501 Trihalomethanes (ECD or PID/ELCD) 157502.2 Volatiles (PID/ELCD) & Volatile Surrogates & Internal Standards 158-161503.1 VOC - Aromatics & Alkenes (PID/ELCD) 162504 EDB & DBCP (ECD) 162504.1 EDB, DBCP, TCP (ECD) 162505 Organohalide Pesticides & Aroclors (ECD) 162506 Phthalate Esters 162507 Nitrogen/Phosphorous Pesticides (NPD) 163508 & 508.A Chlorinated Pesticides & Aroclors (ECD) 164508.1 Chlorinated Pesticides, Herbicides & Organo-halides (ECD) 165509 Ethylene thiourea (ECD) 165515.1 & 515.2 Chlorinated Pesticides (ECD) 166515.3 Chlorinated Acids (ECD) 167515.4 Chlorinated Acids (ECD) 167521 Nitrosamines (SPE & Capillary Column GC) 168524.2 Volatiles (GC/MS) 168525.1 Semi-Volatiles, PCB Congeners, Chlorinated Pesticides (GC/MS) 169525.2 Semi-Volatiles, PCB Congeners, Pesticides (GC/MS) 170-172526 Semi-Volatiles (GC/MS) 173527 Pesticides & Flame Retardants (SPE & Capillary GC/MS) 173528 Phenols (GC/MS) 174529 Explosives & Related Compounds (SPE & Capillary GC/MS) 174531 & 531.1 Carbamates (HPLC) 175532 Phenylureas (HPLC) 175535 NEW Acetamide-Herbicide Degradates (LCMS) 175547 Glyphosate (HPLC) 176548 Endothall (ECD) 176548.1 Endothall (GC/MS) 176549.1/549.2 Diquat & Paraquat (HPLC) 176550 & 550.1 Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons (HPLC) 176551 Chlorinated Solvents, also Trihalomethanes (ECD) 176551.1A Disinfection By-products (ECD) 177552 & 552.1 Haloacetic acids (ECD) 178552.2 Haloacetic acids & Dalapon (ECD) 179553 Benzidines & Nitrogen Pesticides (HPLC/MS) 180554 Derivatized Carbonyl Compounds (HPLC) 180555 Chlorinated Pesticides (HPLC) 180556 & 556.1 Carbonyl Compounds (GC/ECD) 180National Primary Drinking Water Standards 182-183EPA Consent Decree Water Protocol 184Hazardous Substances List 157500 Series MethodsEPA Hazardous Substances List (Volatiles)HSL Volatiles Standard MixtureM-HSL ‡$ 25 / 1 x 1 mL2.0 mg/mL each in MeOH 8 comps.Acetone2-ButanoneCarbon disulfide2-Hexanone4-Methyl-2-pentanoneStyreneVinyl acetateo-Xylene‡ To delay premature breakdown of thermally labile products intransit we suggest shipping with a “Cold Pack”Method 501 Trihalomethane Analysis by P & T - GC/ECD or PIDTrihalomethanesM-501 $ 17 / 1 x 1 mLM-501-PAKSAVE 20% $ 68 / 5 x 1 mL0.2 mg/mL each in MeOH 4 comps.M-501-SET$ 50 / set of 5 x 1 mLSet contain Each component at 0.2 mg/mL in MeOH + M-501 MixM-501-10X$ 20 / 1 x 1 mLM-501-10X-PAKSAVE 20% $ 80 / 5 x 1 mL2.0 mg/mL each in MeOH 4 comps.BromoformChloroformDibromochloromethaneDichlorobromomethaneTel. 800-442-5290 / 203-786-5290 • Fax 203-786-5287 • Web AccuStandard.com 157
