30 Year Anniversary of Fiduca
The year 2012 marks 30 years of Fiducia

Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela
Merkel and Premier Wen Jiabao
visit Herrenknecht Guangzhou
On 3 rd February 2012, Federal Chancellor Dr.
Angela Merkel, together with Wen Jiabao,
Premier of the People’s Republic of China,
visited the Herrenknecht plant in Guangzhou.
Dr.-Ing. E.h. Martin Herrenknecht, Chairman
of the Board of Management of Herrenknecht
AG, presented the company and talked about
important Chinese and international reference
projects. In addition, he introduced a
tunnel boring machine which is being used
in the construction of the Metro Line 2 in
Dongguan. Herrenknecht has been represented
in the Chinese market since the delivery
of the first machine for the construction of
the Beijing metro in 2000. In the meantime,
the company is generating around 20% of
its group sales in China. The Herrenknecht

branch, visited by the Federal Chancellor and
the Premier, is a 100% subsidiary and the
first plant established by Herrenknecht in
China (2002).
ICCS Wins the Title of Shenzhen
Labour Union Collective Bargaining
Advanced Unit
The International
Cargo Centre
Shenzhen
(ICCS) was
honoured
with the title
“Shenzhen Labour Union Collective Bargaining
Advanced Unit” on 29 th December 2011.
This is a great affirmation of the related work
of ICCS labour union organisation and an
inspiration to all employees in the company.
ICCS was mainly praised for its harmonious
and stable employment relationship, including
working hours, rest and vacation, labour
safety and health, insurance and welfare as
well as labour discipline. Only seven enterprises
out of the many companies in Shenzhen
were awarded this title and ICCS stood
out due to its emphasis on the principle of
equality and collective discussion process.
Knauf Plant Opening in Taicang,
Jiangsu province
With its fourth plant in China to be fully
operational in Taicang, Jiangsu province this
year, Knauf is poised to make a stronger presence
in the architecture sector and introduce
its green concepts and products to Chinese
customers, said Mr. Manfred Grundke, CEO of
the company. Mr. Mark Norris, General Manager
of Knauf China, added that the Chinese
government has taken the lead in pushing
material suppliers to go green. Knauf is actively
engaged in supporting green architecture
standards alongside the government and
industry. The company contributed to 75%
of the projects in the 2008 Olympic Games
in Beijing, supplied plasterboard products
to 15 pavilions at the 2010 Shanghai Expo
and actively engaged in the Asian Games in
Guangzhou. A private company, Knauf was
established in 1932 in Germany by brothers
Alfons and Karl Knauf and began producing
gypsum boards in 1958.

German Chamber New Years
Reception
Following the successful “2011 New Years
Reception” in Zhongshan City, the GCC •
South & Southwest China was delighted to
invite the German business community as
well as government representatives to welcome
the year 2012 on 11 th January. With
the kind support of Pre-Cast Zhongshan and
G.W.P Manufacturing Services AG, about 60
guests were able to enjoy free German beer
and food at Bellavista Restaurant. The main
sponsor of the reception, Pre-Cast Zhongshan,
was represented by its GM, Mr. Deckert.
The company’s Zhongshan plant was established
in 2009 and utilises a considerable
number of high technology pressure die casting
and CNC machines to supply products to
local and overseas automotive and machinery
customers. Mr. Deckert further announced
that Pre-Cast plans to establish an education
centre within its factory in the beginning
of 2012 focusing on young people. During
the training period, participants will rotate
between various jobs within the factory such
as office work and the tool shop. After completing
the programme they will be equipped
with valuable know-how to deal with future
challenges and the continued economic
growth of the company in China.
German Federal Chancellor and
Delegation stay at The Ritz-Carlton,
Guangzhou
The Federal Chancellor of Germany, Dr. Angela
Merkel, concluded her official state visit to
China with an extensive programme in Guangzhou
on 3 rd and 4 th February. The official hotel
chosen for the accomodation of the Chancellor
and the accompanying German political
and economic delegation was The Ritz-Carlton,
Guangzhou. The Federal Chancellor was
warmly welcomed by the General Manager,
Mr. Timur Senturk, and the hotel staff. German
Executive Chef Mr. Daniel Schmidt prepared
the tailor-made German menu to surprise the
delegation, reminding them of authentic German
gourmet food from miles away.
