If you recently moved to our area, you're<br />
very quickly gonna find that all those plants<br />
you brought from back home aren't gonna<br />
grow here. Gardening in this area is gardening<br />
in the desert. If you don't believe that,<br />
just drive down to the coast or the valley<br />
and look on both sides of the highway as<br />
you go. THAT's what it was like here originally.<br />
In this class, we cover soils, plants,<br />
fertilizers, plant problems, composting,<br />
pruning, turf grass and xeriscape. It's a lot<br />
of materials to cover in a couple of hours,<br />
but it's vital to successful gardening here.<br />

Raised Bed and Drip Irrigation Hands-On Workshop -Favorite!! - Boerne<br />
MAKE AND TAKE YOUR OWN 4x8 FOOT RAISED BED! Let's go beyond talk<br />
and actually build a working Raised Bed Garden that you will take home with you!<br />
Whether or not you've taken a previous raised bed garden class, you can join us as we<br />
review the concept and then pick up hammers and drills and assemble our own right<br />
in the class workshop. You'll learn how to build the beds, the right kind of soil to use<br />
to fill them, and how to put drip irrigation on them...making this class a combination<br />
of several other classes - raised bed, soils and compost, and drip irrigation. Perfect<br />
way to get ready for spring gardening!<br />
SUPPLIES: Each person's fee for the workshop includes the cost of materials to build<br />
one 4x8 bed with a grid for the top (without soil). All students in the workshop will<br />
build all the beds assembly line style, rotating through all the stations to learn all the<br />
steps. Plus each student will receive Dr. Harris's CD with complete PowerPoint<br />
instructions on bed construction - $20 value free!<br />
