● Early Recognition Program
Following the birth of a child, all parents receive an examination booklet which covers nine appointments
for early recognition examinations during the first few years in the child’s life. The test results are noted in
subsequent examinations are typically done at the paediatrician’s office.
as possible in order to avoid or minimize problems through early and direct intervention. The chances for
success are particularly high during the early childhood years.
Early advancement ( see also Chapter 5.1) encompasses medical, therapeutic and educational
measures which involve different groups of professionals, such as doctors, psychologists, special
educators, physical therapists and speech therapists.
Of particular significance for the early advancement is the involvement of parents and family in guidance
and support of the handicapped or impaired child.
