The Michiana Science and Technology Center, Inc. (MSTCi) is developing a dynamic STEM (science,<br />

technology, engineering, and mathematics) hands-on center in the South Bend downtown area to<br />

provide project-based learning space, K-12 and educator professional development, and a<br />

centralized community STEM resource facility for the northern Indiana region.<br />

The STREAM Factory (Science Technology Research Engineering Art & Architecture Mathematics)<br />

will be the primary STEM education hub in the northern Indiana region. The STREAM Factory is<br />

designed around the 8 economic sectors of the region to develop a thriving STEM workforce for<br />

current and future industries and employers.<br />

The facility will provide an innovative exhibit space for students, career development classrooms and<br />

laboratory space, and a STEM resource area with a lending library for educators and the community.<br />

Additionally, The STREAM Factory will provide continued professional development courses for K-12<br />

educators and parents.<br />

MSTCi has direct and informal relationships with the following partners who have supported and<br />

continue to support our endeavors and activities:<br />

Tech, South Bend Community Schools Corporation, Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation,<br />

Elkhart Community Schools, Notre Dame QuarkNet, Innovation Park, enFocus, Joint Institute for<br />

Nuclear Astrophysics, Notre Dame Center for STEM Education, SJC Public Libraries, ETHOS,<br />

Michiana Astronomical Society, Thorne-Grodnik LLP, Project Lead The Way, Chamber of<br />

Commerce, Union Station Technology Center<br />

MSTCi is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, STEM education organization located in the northern Indiana region,<br />

incorporated in 2013. Throughout that time MSTCi has provided and managed STEM expos,<br />

educational forums, and hands-on exhibits along side its many community partners.<br />

In 2015 MSTCi will launch a comprehensive, online searchable STEM resource database. The STEM<br />

database will provide the community with access to detailed information about regional STEM events,<br />

educational experiences and employment opportunities, such as internships.<br />

The MSTCi Board is comprised of local community leaders and educators including members from<br />

academia, public education, engineering, marketing, law, and small businesses.<br />
