The University will construct a 1.83 megawatt facility on the city-owned dam downtown south bend in 2016, completed in 2019. Power fr
the facility would be conveyed to campus by way of an underground transmission line, a distance of about 1.5 miles. However, it would
reduce campus carbon emissions, increase electric reliability, fix a portion of campus utility costs, provide academic research opportunit
and create strong partnerships with local governments.
