ARCKIT MODEL SYSTEM
Arckit is a groundbreaking new
architectural model system that allows
users to physically design, build and
modify working models radically faster
than ever before. Architects can now
bring their ideas to life with speed
and precision, inspiring spontaneous
creativity and a practical approach to
designing multiple structures.
The reusable interconnecting components
use no glue and are completely modular,
making it possible to create a diverse
range of scaled structures that can be
used as physical working models to
communicate architectural ideas and
include clients in the design process –
as well as for builders, developers and
interior designers to plan projects and
showcase finished work.
Made in Ireland, Arckit is designed
by architects for architects. Founder
Damien Murtagh says: “I have always
appreciated the value of working
models for sharing ideas with clients
and bringing my own designs to life.
The problem is that they are often time
consuming and expensive to make. I
wanted to develop a professional system
that would bridge the gap between
working models and digital models.”
Designed for everyday use, Arckit is
compatible with 3D computer models
and allows users to recreate physical
designs using SketchUp versions of
Arckit components. Arckit is based on
contemporary building techniques and
every component is made to a standard
1.2m/4ft modular grid to a scale, so it
also allows for easy conversion between
metric and imperial.
If you’re looking for a way to proudly
display past projects, Arckit can be
finished with realistic surface patterns
supplied by real building companies.
These textures (such as timber, stone,
terracotta, metal, brick, and concrete)
can be downloaded from an online
Arckitexture Library and printed to the
supplied self-adhesive Arckit media
sheets ready to be measured, cut and
applied.
From renowned architecture practices to
university courses, Arckit is fast building
a strong reputation as a flexible and
creative design tool. As well as listings
with retailers such as Harrods, Barnes &
Nobles and RIBA bookstores, Arckit has
also gained worldwide recognition when
it was shortlisted for The Irish Times
InterTrade Innovation Awards, and later
won the prestigious Red Dot Design
Award 2015.
