Off-site learning experiences included:<br />

• Interpretive panels conceived by DOC and created by the Otago Museum Design team were<br />

unveiled along Portsmouth Drive as part of the UrbanNature campaign in August 2015.<br />

• The development of the new Museum website is underway. A web development company<br />

has been appointed to design a website that will inform and engage, and lead users to social<br />

media and blogs associated with the site.<br />

The staff and executive team have worked closely with many of Otago’s institutions as demonstrated<br />

below:<br />

• North Otago Museum, Central Stories Museum, Olveston Historic Home – free<br />

conservation services/consultancy has been offered for up to 40 hours per year as part of<br />

our outreach program.<br />

• South Otago Museum – the Museum team assisted with the installation of the Never a<br />

Week Goes By exhibition at the Dunedin Railway Station http://ww100.govt.nz/'never-aweek-goes-by'-exhibition.<br />

• Free conservation services and consultancy have been offered for up to 40 hours per year as<br />

part of our outreach program.<br />

• University of Otago – collaborations are underway with the Centre of Science<br />

Communication; the Museum is delivering education outreach for the Dodd-Walls Centre of<br />

Photonics and Quantum Technologies; Genetics Otago – Lab in a Box project.<br />

• Otago Polytechnic – collaboration on the Who Cared? Otago Nurses in WWI exhibition<br />

opening September 2015.<br />

• Toitū Otago Settlers Museum – co-hosted the Museums Aotearoa conference in May 2015.<br />

Provided conservation assistance. Loaned kurī dog specimen for the Toitū Cats and Dogs<br />

exhibition<br />

• Dunedin Public Art Gallery – co-hosted the Museums Aotearoa conference in May 2015.<br />

• Olveston Historic Home – developed a special guided tour for inclusion in the Heritage<br />

Festival Open Dunedin strand coordinated by Olveston Historic Home.<br />

• Royal Society of New Zealand – the Museum is part of the national Royal Society’s speaker<br />

circuit.<br />

• Otago Institute – the local branch of the Royal Society regularly stages talks and events at<br />

the Museum.<br />

• Hokonui, Moeraki, Ōtākou and Puketeraki – as well as all four rūnaka being represented on<br />

the Māori Advisory Committee, which meets every two months, the Museum is working<br />

closely with wāhine from the rūnaka in the development of the Hākui: Women of Kāi Tahu<br />

exhibition, to open 19 November 2015.<br />

• One of the major highlights of the Museums Aotearoa 2015 conference in May 2015 was<br />

the opening sessions held at the Ōtākou Marae.<br />
