EHL EVENTS
Are you planning a
Wedding?
A selection of tips from EHL Events, for DIY Brides... www.ehlevents.co.uk
Don’t be afraid to have too many ideas
There is nothing better than to meet a couple
brimming with enthusiasm and ideas. Make a list
of everything that you have either seen or think
might work. Define that list by what you love – it
doesn’t matter if you are missing key areas in
the beginning. It’s a fun process and you can get
others involved too, to give you their suggestions
and fill in the blanks. The process of elimination
via budget, availability or others will soon present
your ideal wedding.
Try something different
Just because it isn’t ‘in’ for 2015 or it sounds a bit
strange to your friends – go for different ideas
and surprise your guests. Planning a summer
wedding? Instead of having an evening BBQ
or Hog roast… why not try street food vending
- from paella to fish and chips, Mexican to
Mediterranean… a choice of food from around
the world will be sure to wet anyone’s appetite.
Not sure what to arrange
for entertainment?
Why not hire street performers, choreograph
a dance with your bridesmaids, set up a music
station or bring in some fire dancers. Make your
cake cutting a full-blown event — use indoor
sparklers, have someone wheel the cake to
the middle of the dance floor with the lights
dimmed… There are so many ways to keep it
interesting and sometimes more importantly,
within budget.
Get your family and friends involved
I am a huge advocate for getting friends and
family together. The chances are, you’ll know
someone that could make your bunting and
wedding favours. Or perhaps provide additional
or sole photography. There could even be
someone to make the wedding cake. And what’s
more – they’ll most likely be honoured to have
been able to contribute to your Big Day.
Be mindful of your guests
Basic comforts ensure that you have thought
about your guests. Offer blankets at outdoor
receptions, flip flops for dance floors, bottles
of water in the height of summer or accessible
cushioned chairs for those less able.
Above all else…
Styling, logistics and delivery of a wonderful
event, requires the very basic air of simplicity.
Whether you’re a DIY bride, Wedding Planner
or just a friend helping to co-ordinate – keep
it simple.
