MARCH 2015 | ISSUE #29 | SPORT
By Ross ‘Action Man’ Wishart
BUBBLE FOOTBALL
This month, Action Man took our
great magazine’s name literally
and Bounced into Bubble Football!
Now, if you are looking for an event to showcase
your tika taka skills then this is not it! However
if you’re looking for a great laugh with some
team mates, colleagues on a corporate function
or perhaps as a stag / hen party then Bubble
Football is perfect!
Action Man and pals joined the team from
Worldy Football (check out their Facebook page
facebook.com/worldyfootball)
who operate out of Maidenhall
Sports Centre in Ipswich. For
£200 you get 10 bubble suits and
hall hire for an hour, don’t feel that
this limits you to only 10 people,
in fact I would encourage you to
bring more as it can be hard work
especially getting back on your
feet for the hundredth time!
So bring more and use
substitutions, this will also help you spread the
cost. I mentioned it’s hard work when encased
in those bubbles so don’t make too many big
plans after, or at least take a towel because you
will be a sweaty mess! Not to mention the tears
streaming down your face from the constant
laughing, there’s not much funnier than sending
a friend rolling down the hall just as he is lining
up a shot.
Whilst to start with we were quite hesitant,
it wasn’t long before we got a feel for it and
to be honest the football became secondary
behind the stramash and seeing just how far we
could bounce each other. Being of a somewhat
diminutive persuasion and leader of the gang,
Action Man found himself to be the target and
was regularly sent flying across the room! That
being said, apart from feeling rather exhausted
from the exertion, the multitude of hits had no
lasting effects as it’s all very safe within your
rubber cocoon.
The hour absolutely flew by, what
was the score? Nobody knew but
what we did agree on is that we all
had an awesome time. We’re already
planning our next session and would
highly recommend it to anyone else.
Can’t make it down to Ipswich?
Not a problem! There are a number
of bubble football groups including
Worldy Football who operate in our
area, you just need to book a venue like a sports
hall or outdoor all weather football facility and tie
up with your bubble football provider who can
come to you.
Action Man says: (in his best
cockney rhyming slang)
You’re ‘avin’ a bubble! With
Bubble Football!!!
