Transformative Leadership Training
Family Bank Managers Transformed

Leadership and Professional
Development (ILPD)
conducted a six months
training on “Transformative
Leadership for Growth,” for family bank
managers from September 2014 to
March 2015. The training was done in
five modules titled, Igniting Leadership,
Effective Leadership and Change
Management, Workplace Conflict
Management, Communication and
Community Engagement, and Risk
and Performance Management. Each
module comprised 9 sessions running
for three full days. The team of about
100 branch managers and 30 executives
was drawn from across the country. The
team was divided into three cohorts
comprising branch managers and heads
of departments, and a 4th cohort for
the executive team, and all cohorts were
taught the same content.
The training culminated into
awarding of certificates with the four
cohorts receiving their certificates during
graduation ceremonies which were
held separately, after each of the cohort
completed its sessions. Cohort one’s
graduation was held on 30th February
2015, while those of cohort 2 and 3
were held on 20th and 27th March 2015
respectively. The graduation for the
executive managers took place on 30th
March 2015.
The graduation ceremony for the
executive team was graced by the Family
Bank vice-chair of the Board and Chairman
HR committee, Prof. Kabiru Kinyanjui.
Prof. Kabiru said he was happy that Family
Bank partnered with Daystar University
in the training of their managers, saying
that the university was able to meet their
expectations. While applauding Daystar
University for the good work they had
done in transforming their managers into
leaders, Prof. Kabiru revealed that he had a
stake in articulating the Daystar University
philosophy during its inception. He called
on the managers to apply what they
had learnt not only in the bank but also
in other areas of leadership. He further
