Falcons of Character Awards<br />

Dinner at Lukenya Getaway on Friday<br />

April 10, 2015. Hon. Faith Wathome, the<br />

Minister for Sports, Culture and T<strong>our</strong>ism,<br />

Machakos County, was the guest of<br />

honor. Among the other distinguished<br />

guests were the university Vicechancellor<br />

Dr. Timothy Wachira, Daystar<br />

University co-founders, Dr Donald and<br />

Mrs Faye Smith, Deputy Vice-chancellor,<br />

Finance and Administration, Mr Jomo<br />

Gatundu, Corporate Affairs Manager Mr.<br />

Charles Kilonzo, Dean Community Life,<br />

Dr James Karau, Sports and Recreation<br />

Officer, Mr Maurice Masiga, his<br />

assistants Mr John Yidah and Ms Rachel<br />

Njoroge.<br />

In her speech, Hon. Wathome<br />

applauded the Falcons for the team<br />

spirit fostered within them. She notably<br />

promised free access of the new<br />

Kenyatta Sports Stadium in Machakos<br />

to the Falcons soccer team, for their<br />

training. This was in recognition of their<br />

excellent performance in the league,<br />

and their subsequent promotion to<br />

the Division 1 Nationwide League.<br />

She appreciated the Falcons 7s Rugby<br />

Team for its consistent participation<br />

in Machakos County’s Masaku Sevens<br />

t<strong>our</strong>nament and for also winning the<br />

most promising rugby team in Machakos<br />

County award, at a recent award<br />

ceremony of her ministry. She urged the<br />

Falcons to keep on performing well.<br />

Among the accolades for the evening<br />

was the most improved team of the year<br />
