the public judgment or will tend to impair his independence or judgment or action<br />

in the per<strong>for</strong>mance of his official duties.<br />

2.0506 SPECIFIC CONFLICTS OF INTEREST<br />

Specific conflicts of interest are enumerated below <strong>for</strong> the guidance of officials.<br />

The following list is illustrative merely <strong>and</strong> not exclusive:<br />

A. Incompatible Employment<br />

No Alderman or other public official or employee shall engage in or accept<br />

private employment or render services <strong>for</strong> private interests when such<br />

employment or service is incompatible with the proper discharge of his<br />

official duties or tends to impair his independence of judgment or action in<br />

the per<strong>for</strong>mance of his official duties. In the event an Alderperson, official,<br />

or employee possesses a financial or personal interest in any business or<br />

transaction, any presumption of conflict of interest with his public duties<br />

shall be removed by his disclosure of the nature <strong>and</strong> extent of such<br />

investment to the Common Council <strong>for</strong> the records of that authority.<br />

B. Disclosure of Confidential In<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

No Alderperson, other public official or employee, shall, without proper<br />

legal authorization, disclose confidential in<strong>for</strong>mation concerning the<br />

property, government, or affairs of the City, nor shall he use such<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation to advance the financial or other private interest of himself or<br />

others.<br />

C. Gifts or Gratuities<br />

1. It shall be unlawful <strong>for</strong> any public employee or public official to receive<br />

or offer to receive, either directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, or<br />

anything of value which he is not authorized to received from any person,<br />

if such person:<br />

(a) Has or is seeking to obtain contractual or other business or<br />

financial relationships with such public employee's employer or<br />

the governmental body of the public official; or<br />

(b) Conducts operations or activities which are regulated by such<br />

public employee's employer or the governmental body of a<br />

public official; or<br />

(c) Has interests which may be substantially affected by such public<br />

employee's employer or the governmental body of the public<br />

official.<br />

2. The receipt of any gift, gratuity, or anything of value as denoted above is<br />

contrary to the public policy of the City of Marinette.<br />
