Crown-of-thorns starfish and damaged areas.<br />

Neither the LIT nor quadrat method was used on<br />

reefs deeper than 25 m due to the time constraints imposed<br />

by the no-decompression limits of S.C.U.B.A.<br />

diving. These deeper reef sites were surveyed mainly to<br />

ascertain the status of individual coral colonies and determine<br />

the diversity of coral, fish and other reef species.<br />
