iLEAD QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY: ADVANCED PROGRAM
Quality and Patient Safety, in partnership with the Sunnybrook Leadership Institute, has developed this advanced-level
program for any staff who wish to lead a change initiative in their daily work. This program equips participants with the
knowledge and skills to engage in effective and sustainable quality improvement (QI) with their team, unit, department
or across the organization.
Duration: There is no time limit for completing the iLead Course requirements.
Classroom Hours: Approximately 72 hours
Program Requirements:
To complete this program, participants must complete 6.5 course
credits (4.5 mandatory + 2.0 electives) and engage in an independent
QI Activity.
Available:
Workshops are offered annually
throughout the academic year.
Compulsory Workshops*:
• iLead: Sustainability & Spread (7 hours, 1.0 credit)
• iLead Measurement for QI – Part II (4 hours, 0.5 credit)
• iLead Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (7 hours, 1.0 credit)
• iLead Canadian Incident Analysis Framework (7 hours, 1.0 credits)
Electives*:
• iLead Complexity, Reliability and High Reliability Organizations
(7 hours, 1.0 credit)
• Coaching for Improvement (4 hours, 0.5 credit)
Sunnybrook Leadership Institute (SLI)
Core Workshops:
• Crucial Conversations (14 hours, 1.0 hours)
• Cultural Intelligence (4 hours, 0.5 credit)

iLead Independent QI Activity:
The purpose of this activity is to expose participants to the various
opportunities to participate in and lead quality and patient safety
improvement work. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow
or engage in local or hospital-wide activities.
