Figure 12 displays the location of bank branches by type of ownership. Interestingly, we observe that foreign-owned banks are located only in central and western Kenya, and in particular in the region of the capital (see also Figure 13 for a detailed breakdown of the density of banks across the Kenyan territory). Not surprisingly, there are fewer bank branches in more remote areas, and those that are there are mainly government owned or privately owned.
