Carey On...

It doesn’t seem
possible, but
the year is
coming to a close,
and 2014 is right
around the corner.
It has been
a good year
for the Maverick Region, and
we hope you have been able
to come out to an event or two
to see what we’re all about.
If you haven’t, there’s still time
before the holidays! The final
Sunday Drive of the year, known
as the Frick’n Toy Run (because it
was thought up by members Dave
and Jean Frick), takes place on
Sunday, December 8. The price of
entry this time is a $25 Walmart
gift card, which will be donated to
our charity, the Huffaker-Hughes
Hope House, a shelter for battered
women and children in the wake of
domestic violence. As of this writing
in mid-November, a starting point
has not been finalized. Our website,
mav.pca.org, has that information.
Our Holiday Party this year returns
to a private home, this year hosted
by Linda and Lee Wilkins on Saturday,
December 14. For the nominal
fee of $15 per person, you get
dinner catered by Maggiano’s Little
Italy, as well as adult beverages and
soft drinks. If you want to help out
with hors d’oeuvres or dessert, you
are more than welcome to sign up
for that as well. We ask that you
bring a $25 Walmart gift card, again
to be donated to the Hope House.
If you still haven’t gotten enough
of our competitive driving
events, there is a double Time
Trial weekend at the Mineral-
Ring on December 7 and 8.
Our Maverick Social series (formerly
known as Happy Hour)
continues in December at Ruggeri’s
in Dallas, as do our informal
lunch gatherings in Lewisville,
Southlake, and Richardson, so
there are still plenty of opportunities
to get together with other
Mavericks before the year is out.
Our annual All Member Party is
coming up in January, the weekend
before the Super Bowl, so
make plans to be there for the
drawing for the one-year lease
on a new Porsche Macan! It’s not
too late to buy a ticket or ten!
