The Key Stage 3 Curriculum
The Key Stage 3 Curriculum is studied in Years 7 to 9. The Curriculum is all of
the subjects that make up your timetable. This Curriculum will change as you
move from Year 7 to Year 9. It will change again when you move into Year 10
(Key Stage 4), as you will have some choices to make regarding GCSE subjects.
Firstly let us consider what we are trying to achieve by the curriculum we
offer; these are called the aims.
Aims of the Key Stage 3 Curriculum
1 A curriculum that is broad
and balanced
This means you study a range
of subjects, and that within
the range there is a good mix
of languages, sciences, arts
and practical subjects.
This means that not
everyone will
necessarily do the
same number of
subjects.
2. A curriculum that offers
flexibility for students to
develop their individual
interests and abilities
3 A curriculum that provides the
opportunity to keep several
possible career pathways open.
You will experience
many subjects so that
you can have an array
of choice at GCSE (Key
Stage 4).
