Sec RR-4. 10 MRSA §2455-A is enacted to read:<br />

§ 2455-A. Records of weights and measures sealed; annual report<br />

The several municipal sealers shall keep records of all weights and measures, balances<br />

and measuring devices inspected, sealed or condemned by them, giving the name of the owner or<br />

agent, the place of business, the date of inspection and kind of apparatus so inspected, sealed or<br />

condemned. Each sealer shall make an annual report on July 1st for the 12 preceding months on<br />

forms prescribed by the state sealer, and shall furnish such information as the state sealer shall<br />

require.<br />

SUMMARY<br />

This Part provides authority for municipalities to appoint local sealers of weights and<br />

measures. Municipalities may utilize the state weights and measures program should they not opt<br />

for appointing a local sealer.<br />

PART SS<br />

Sec. SS-1. 12 MRSA §8901, sub-§1, as amended by PL 2015, c. 267, Pt. Z, §1, is further<br />

amended to read:<br />

1. Appointment. The Director of the Bureau of Forestry shall appoint forest rangers,<br />

subject to the Civil Service Law and the State Supervisor of the forest protection unit of the<br />

Bureau of Forestry. Rangers assigned to posts at Clayton Lake, St. Pamphile, Estcourt Station,<br />

Daaquam, Musquacook Lake, Snare Brook and Baker Lake must be bilingual in French and<br />

English.<br />

A. The forest protection unit of the Bureau of Forestry shall employ no fewer than 45 and no<br />

more than 50 forest rangers classified as Forest Ranger II to serve as wildfire control<br />

specialists and forestry law enforcement officers, and no fewer than 17 forest rangers<br />

classified as follows: 3 Regional Rangers, 8 District Rangers, one Forest Fire Prevention<br />

Specialist, one Ranger Pilot Supervisor and 4 3 Ranger Pilots. Each forest ranger must, at a<br />

minimum, be a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's law enforcement<br />

preservice program or equivalent.<br />

SUMMARY<br />

This Part eliminates one Ranger Pilot position.<br />
